Tips for family members in Quittin' Time
|
Smoking is an addiction.
Smokers need the support from all of us – friends, family and
colleagues. If you have a family member who smokes
and is trying to quit:
- Ask them how you can help. Quitting
smoking is a personal decision. Don’t assume
that you know the right thing to do.
- Support them. Offer to go for a walk
or play a game when the stress of quitting gets
high.
- Cut them some slack. Quitting smoking
is a difficult thing to do. Allow your family
members some extra room during this time.
- Respect their wishes. If they want to
be left alone, do so. If they want your
encouragement and support, be there.
