Tips for family members in Quittin' Time

Smoking is an addiction. Smokers need the support from all of us – friends, family and colleagues. If you have a family member who smokes and is trying to quit:
  • Ask them how you can help. Quitting smoking is a personal decision. Don’t assume that you know the right thing to do.
  • Support them. Offer to go for a walk or play a game when the stress of quitting gets high.
  • Cut them some slack. Quitting smoking is a difficult thing to do. Allow your family members some extra room during this time.
  • Respect their wishes. If they want to be left alone, do so. If they want your encouragement and support, be there.
