Quittin’ Time telephone counselling

Counsellors

Program counsellors are experienced professional counsellors trained in smoking cessation who will create personalized programs for callers depending on their needs. They will listen, support and provide reinforcement for callers facing the challenge of a quit attempt.

Counselling services are provided by a specialized program through the BC Lung Association, one of our partners. Counsellors will also refer callers to community-based programs and help them access smoking cessation-related websites.

If you are not yet ready to quit, Program Counsellors will provide information designed to support a future attempt of quitting smoking.

Counselling calls

Upon registering and after the first consultation a series of calls will take place with the program counsellor.

  • 2 days prior to the quit date
  • On the quit date
  • A few days after your quit date
  • 1 week after your quit date
  • 28 days after your quit date
  • 60 days after your quit date

Meet the quit line staff

During the quit process, a participant can call to receive support 24/7. These calls are in addition to the set of pre-determined counsellor-initiated calls that a participant will receive as part of ongoing quit support.
